Catwalks or doggy style?

Golden goddess: Naomi Campbell in Jasper Conran

While some follow the catwalk religiously, others end up dressed like a dog's dinner - and yesterday was no exception.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell set tongues wagging and jaws dropping during London Fashion Week by striding out in a risque Egyptian-style two-piece by Jasper Conran.

But, while the world's most cuttingedge designers applauded Mr Conran's efforts, others had better ideas about what should be hitting high-street stores this autumn.

In the US, the next trend is already making its mark. Dubbed 'bark bark' instead of bling bling, new 'dogwalk' jewellery is already being snapped up.

Designer Lara Riedel has created a range of glamorous necklaces and pearl tiaras for cats and dogs. The pooch pearls, which were first made for Lara's pet Cow Dog, have proved so popular that Harrods is said to be interested in selling her animal fashion.

A garment which many are praying will become the biggest hit was also given its first showing.

Clergy swapped the dog collar for the catwalk as they modelled the latest clerical designs.

Among those taking part in Clergy On The Catwalk exhibition in Manchester was a former Bond girl, the Rev Dr Shannon Ledbetter, who wore a £250,000 PVC dress in the

Dr Ledbetter, who was ordained a deacon in the Church of England last year, said it was wonderful to take part in the fashion show which aimed to 'dispel the myth that clergy need to dress dull'.

'I would wear these kind of designs for special occasions,' she added.

'They represent thousands of years of substantial spirituality. It's not just dressing up.

'Modelling can be pretty soulless. I still get a kick out of seeing Armani, but you eventually ask yourself what you can contribute to the community.'
