Britons held over Spanish cocaine haul

Three Britons were today arrested in Spain after police seized one of the world's largest hauls of cocaine. British and Spanish customs officers swooped on a ship in the Atlantic carrying five tonnes of the drug, worth an estimated £225 million.

The three British suspects were arrested on the Costa del Sol during the weekend. They were allegedly preparing to distribute some of the cocaine in Britain. Timothy O'Toole and Ian Davenport were detained in Marbella and James Carabini was held elsewhere on the southern holiday coast.

Nine other gang members were detained across Spain.
