Blair and Chirac pledge to beat terrorism

13 April 2012

Prime Minister Tony Blair and French President Jacques Chirac today declared their determination to combat international terrorism in the aftermath of the suicide bomb attacks on British targets in Istanbul.

Concluding an Anglo-French summit in London, Mr Blair - standing next to the French leader - told a news conference at Lancaster House they had agreed on the need to combat the scourge of terrorism at every level.

Mr Blair said: "I thank the President for his warm sentiments of solidarity in the light of what took place in Turkey last week, and his condolences at the British casualties.

"We agreed that it is important that we do everything we can at every level we can to combat this menace in our world."
