BAA apologise to Jedward for bullying at Heathrow

John and Edward Grimes claim they were victimised by staff at Heathrow Airport

BAA has reprimanded members of its security staff after former X Factor contestants Jedward complained they were being bullied at Heathrow Airport.

Twins John and Edward Grimes, 19, claim they were victimised and mocked by staff at the airport, which they use three times a week to fly home to their native Dublin. They say they were continually pulled up for extra screening for the amusement of officials.

A formal complaint was lodged by the twins' tour manager Liam McKenna after he witnessed an incident last week when a member of staff tried to force Edward to remove his trousers and the leg brace he wears to protect a broken ankle.

A source said: "They always pull the twins in just to pick on them and try to look big in front of their mates. Then last week, the same guy who usually taunts them pulled Edward in and was joined by three mates. There were four big oafs standing laughing at a 19-year-old."

BAA, which operates the airport, emailed an apology to the twins which referred to the "rude and unprofessional" behaviour of staff, adding: "Nothing excuses the behaviour."
