BA and Qantas step up DVT defence

LAWYERS for British Airways and Qantas have argued in a Melbourne court that forcing them to face legal action by victims of deep vein thrombosis would put Australian law at odds with other countries.

The airlines are appealing against a judgment last December by the Victorian Supreme Court, which BA says created 'new and different law'. The Court of Appeal in London threw out a similar case last month.
