Axe falls on Capital managers

CAPITAL Radio is axeing senior managers in an overhaul aimed at boosting national advertising revenue. Local advert sales operations will be absorbed into a national structure with regional hubs in London, Manchester and Birmingham. Four managing directors are likely to be made redundant.

Capital's stations will be realigned under its four main networks - Capital Gold, Capital FM, Century and Xfm. Capital said: 'National advertising is becoming more important in radio advertising. We also want to be ready for the effects of the Communications Act when it comes and the current structure does not support us as well as it might in acquiring more stations.'
