Arsonists torched bus

Arsonists are believed to have started a fire which ripped through the top deck of a London bus today, destroying the roof and causing thousands of pounds' worth of damage.

The No 32 bus had terminated in Cambridge Gardens, near Kilburn Park Tube station, at 10am and was about to return to Edgware when the blaze was discovered.

No passengers were on board when the flames took hold and the driver escaped from the burning vehicle without injury.

A spokeswoman for London Buses said: "Police are investigating the fire and we are working with them to help with their inquiries as much as possible.

"CCTV was installed on the bus and we will be examining the footage to see exactly what happened."
