Arrest in Sam Guidera murder hunt

Tragic: friends of Mr Guidera have said he was a passionate student

Detectives investigating the murder of student Sam Guidera arrested a 39-year-old man today.

Mr Guidera, 24, was found collapsed in the street a few hundred yards from Penge East railway station at 9.55pm last Saturday. He had been stabbed and police believe he was the victim of a mugging.

The suspect was held at an address in Penge at 7am, the first arrest in the inquiry. Mr Guidera was studying history and politics at the University of Greenwich and wanted to become a teacher. He was said to be passionate about his studies.
