Army recruits 'ran seduction league'

A group of female Army recruits set up a league table to see who had slept with the most instructors, a Commons defence select committee has heard.

A trainee would award herself five points for sex with a corporal but 10 if she managed to seduce a sergeant. The women had sex with instuctors at Bassingbourn camp in Cambridgeshire behind the canteen, in barrack rooms and empty hangars, said Lieutenant Colonel Richard Haes.

The Committee has now ordered an investigation into the incidents which led to the suspension of 15 instructors.

Lt Col Haes, now retired, said that "predatory" girls joined the Army because of the sexual prospects. "A group in one camp kept a chart on the wall," he said. "They recorded the points scored."

Five years ago, a 19-year-old recruit claimed that it was instructors who competed for sex with trainees. Nikki Codd, now 24 and no longer in the Army, said: "Many of the instructors were married, but that didn't stop them."
