American killer executed with British drug

A murderer was executed by injection in Florence, Arizona, with a sedative sent from Britain.

The execution was delayed after a federal judge questioned its effectiveness.

"This drug came from a reputable place," said an Arizona legal official. "There's wild speculation that it came from a third world country and that's not accurate."

The execution of Jeffrey Landrigan for a 1989 killing during a robbery was the state's first since 2007.
