90 concerts in fight against knife crime

An anti-knife crime campaign will see up to 90 music concerts take place around the UK and Ireland.

The Knife Crime Awareness Tour aims to deliver its message over the next 12 months.

Project co-founder Aled Lewis said the Damilola Taylor Trust has given its support along with 250 bands who will play for no charge.

Concern over the rise in knife and gun crime saw 2,000 people marching in London last weekend.

Mr Lewis, 38, a music promoter, said: "Music is the main way of getting the message across

"We are covering every musical genre you can think of and plan to take performances to schools as well."

A warm-up concert will take place at the Windsor in Neath, South Wales, on 1 November and the official launch will be at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff a month later.
