All sing Hosanna as the concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar has been made available to thousands more people.
The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production, which begins socially distanced performances from August 14, will now be relayed live by screen to 5,000 audience members on the park lawn.
The special staging of the Evening Standard Theatre Award-winning rock opera runs for six weeks over the summer, with the extra £20 tickets currently on sale for the period between August 19-30.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical features stars from both the original run and its transfer to the Barbican Theatre, with both Tyrone Huntley and Ricardo Alfonso playing Judas, Anoushka Lucas and Maimuna Memon playing Mary and Declan Bennett and Pepe Nufrio as Jesus. Open Air Theatre director Timothy Sheader helms the show, with choreography from Drew McOnie.
The show will run for 90 minutes with no interval. Seated audiences have been reduced to 390 seats, 30 per cent of the venue’s full capacity, so the additional tickets will come as news worth celebrating for musical fans deprived over recent months.
The Standard's review of the musical's most recent outing at the Barbican called the show "so fun that even atheists will enjoy it".
