A person based in the UK has come forward to claim the country’s biggest EuroMillions prize of the year.

The mystery winner claimed a jackport of £79.3 million on Tuesday evening. It is only the fifth EuroMillions win in the UK since the start of this year.

If validation is successful the lottery winner will have to decide if they want to remain anonymous go public with their win.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: "It is fantastic news that a lucky ticket-holder has now claimed this enormous prize.

“We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.”

The top prize had rolled over six times in a row prior to the draw on Tuesday. It was most recently won by a French player on Friday, October 2.

The UK-based winnner won the jackpot after their entry matched the numbers 13, 15, 28, 32, 44, and Lucky Stars 3 and 12.

Of the four previous EuroMillion winners in the UK, only one player decided to go to public.

Ryan Hoyle from Rochdale scooped £58 million in April and shared how he planned to retire early, take his daughter to Disneyland and build a new home.

The win placed him the self-employed joiner 20th place on the National Lottery millionaires' rich list.
