Where to buy fireworks in London: the shops and websites still open for a lockdown Bonfire Night at home

You can still get a last-minute back-garden firework fix at these shops and websites.

What with rising coronavirus infections and the second national lockdown due to start, public firework displays are off this year.

It’s still possible to throw your own Bonfire Night party for you and your household to enjoy though – provided you’ve got a big enough garden.

And you’ll still be able to buy fireworks tomorrow because many London fireworks sellers are continuing to operate during lockdown, albeit with some new rules and restrictions in place.

Here’s how to see in the new lockdown with a bang.

Where to buy fireworks in London

The following retailers are still operating and will be selling fireworks tomorrow and after.

  • Fireburst Fireworks, fireburstfireworks.co.uk can deliver within 30 miles of their Hemel Hempstead pop-up, (usually) within 24 hours with charges from £4.99 to £19.99 depending on postcodes
  • Fireworks Den is accepting online orders for delivery only. Let them know in the order notes section if you want them urgently in time for Bonfire Night fireworksden.com
  • East London Fireworks will remain open at 114-116 Roman Road, E2, east-london-fireworks.co.uk
  • YTM Fireworks have Covid-safe stores open in Potters Bar, Hornsey, Southgate and Bounds Green or buy online at ytmfireworks.com; 0207 298 5571
  • Fireworks Arcade are offering Covid-safe online ordering with an appointed collection time from 102 East Barnet Road; fireworksarcade.co.uk

It’s best to buy fireworks from a specialist and be sure to read safety notes on their websites.

Also check for the CE safety mark, read all instructions carefully and follow to the letter, partially burying fireworks as necessary.

If you’re setting off fireworks in your garden, you need at least eight metres length and a similar width for category 2 fireworks. For category 3 fireworks you’ll need 25 metres distance. Be aware of overhanging trees too.

Single ignition fireworks – or cakes – give a complete display from one fuse/box (from around £15 into several £100s).

Sparklers are a good ice-breaker but glow sticks are safer for children.

Warn the neighbours (or perhaps make it communal by inviting them to watch from their own garden) and finish your display by 11pm, or midnight on fireworks night itself.
