If you’ve ever fancied jazzing up your interiors or bagging a bobby dazzler, then a new antique and vintage collectors fair could be just the place for you.

Wembley Park Antiques Market, which features 130 dealers from across the UK and Europe, is the brainchild of Maurice and Jonathan Nixon, the operators of the iconic Portobello Green Market in west London.

“We had the idea about three and half years ago but with Covid things got slightly put on hold for us to execute what we wanted to do,” says Nixon, who saw a gap in the market for a big antiques fair in London.

“It was a natural evolution of what Portobello is. We wanted the capital to be able to buy good antiques without venturing out of London. It features the best dealers from across the UK and further afield.

The team chose Wembley Park because it was a good central point not affected by the congestion charge or ULEZ.

“It’s an iconic space with its big redevelopment,” Nixon adds. “London is a hub for everything but we saw a great opportunity to incorporate something we felt was missing from the capital.”

Wembley Antiques Market is held on Canada Lane once a month and features everything from jewellery, furniture, decorative art and gardenware. It is also popular with prop buyers and set designers, according to Nixon.

“It will take your breath away,” he adds. “You wouldn’t believe an event like this was in the capital. It’s a one-stop shop for traders and buyers with everything from entry level to high-end antiques. You can buy something from £5 to £5,000.”

The event offers free entry with parking available on site from £1 an hour. Traders can drive in at fair level with a van, lorry or high-sided vehicle to load up on purchases.

Wembley Antiques Market is held on the last Wednesday of every month, with the third and next event taking place on January 26 from 8am to 4pm.
