On CBBC's 35th anniversary, here's where the stars of the channel's iconic kids shows are now

It’s the 35th birthday of the CBBC, marking the anniversary of the time Phillip Schofield launched the channel from a control booth at the Television Centre.

The BBC’s specialised childrens’ channel has become embedded in the memories of multiple generations over its 35-year span, with a number of iconic shows featuring TV stars who went on to prolific careers.

So where are some of the CBBC stars now? Read on to find out…

Iain Stirling

Dave Benett

Iain Stirling’s first career break came through CBBC after he was spotted at a gig and hired as a presenter.

The Scottish comedian has since become known for his stand-up career and his role as the narrator of Love Island since 2015.

The lead star of The Story of Tracy Beaker has gone on to appear in various television shows, such as the tenth series of Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

She is now set to return for the reboot of Tracy Beaker, in which she will play an adult Tracy who is now a single mother.

Craig Roberts

Craig Roberts made his mainstream breakthrough as the lead actor in the coming of age film Submarine, and has since gone on to star in numerous films and shows as well directing three features.

Roberts’ career began with the CBBC television series The Story of Tracy Beaker, based on the book by Jacqueline Wilson.

The Queen’s Nose stars

The Queen’s Nose, based on the novel by Dick King-Smith, ran for seven seasons from 1995-2003.

It featured a range of British acting talent, including Dominique Moore, who has since starred in the television adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral, A Confession and Tracey Ullman’s Show.

Annette Badland was seen in Outlander, EastEnders and A Quiet Passion.

The Demon Headmaster stars

The Demon Headmaster ran on CBBC from 1996-1998, and was based on the childrens’ books by Gillian Cross.

Star Jake Curran recently appeared in The Salisbury Poisonings and Maze Runner: The Death Cure, while Danny John-Jules went on to star in Blade II and Death in Paradise.
