Brits have been enjoying an Indian summer heatwave with the mercury set to rise to 30C by tomorrow.
Forecasters say that temperatures hit 29.5C near Gatwick on Monday, which is "quite rare" for September.
While the unseasonably warm temperatures will begin to cool off from Wednesday, warm sunshine will continue across the UK for most of the week.
However, there may still be the odd sporadic shower in parts of the country and north west Scotland will see some heavier rainfall over the next few days.
Met Office spokesman Greg Snell said that there is not much cloud in the sky in most of England and Wales at the moment and the temperatures have responded to that.
He said: "It is quite rare to get 30C in September. Today, it has almost hit 30C.
"After a fairly mild night tonight, England and Wales will be dry on Tuesday which a little big more clouds, which could bring showers across the Midlands, northern Wales and northern England.
"We will likely see temperatures hit 30C in the south east on Tuesday so another warm day. It will be a bright day for most of England and Wales."
Mr Snell said the rest of the week will see "plenty of dry weather around", as temperatures fall slightly to 26C on Wednesday and 22C on Thursday.
"Wednesday onwards will see temperatures fall slightly with cooler air sweeping in," he said.
"Friday will remain similar with lots of sunshine for most of the UK.
"It may be slightly breezier on the south coast but temperatures will hover in the low 20s."
Mr Snell said that Saturday will continue as a warm sunny day but Sunday could bring the possibility of rain coming in from the west.
