Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof row over Manchester United defending during Europa League exit

Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof were involved in a heated disagreement during Manchester United's Europa League exit to Sevilla.

United had taken the lead through Fernandes, scoring from the spot with their 22nd penalty of the season after seven minutes.

But a combination of missed chances and poor marking cost United dearly as Sevilla bounced back with goals from Suso and substitute Luuk de Jong to seal their place in Friday's final in Germany.

Lindelof was adjudged to have been culpable for allowing De Jong to escape him in the box to tap home and Fernandes made his feelings clear to the central defender.

But the Sweden international - who is able to speak Portuguese after his time with Benfica - reacted angrily to his Portuguese team-mate in his native tongue.

Tempers flared as Lindelof could be seen screaming in Fernandes' direction, appearing to suggest the midfelder had failed in stopping Sevilla as they passed their way through the middle.

United were unable to find an answer to Sevilla's goal despite having 20 attempts on goal, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou in inspired form.

The defeat means that for the third time this season, the Red Devils have lost in a semi-final of a cup competition after bowing out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Sevilla will now face the winners of the second semi-final between Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk in the final in Cologne on August 21.
