Walls around the city have come to life with colour as the first ever London Mural Festival takes over the capital.

More than 150 artists from around the globe have come together with London’s buildings as their canvas in the event which runs throughout September and beyond.

Camille Walala, whose bold shapes already adorn buildings and street crossings in White City and Shoreditch, is taking part, hailing London as an “exciting” public gallery for street art: “Designers are getting more confident with colour here. That's why, with so many things being cancelled and postponed, I am very happy to see the first London Mural Festival is still going ahead.”

The artists taking part include Seb Lester, Katrina Adams and a collaboration between Ben Eine and Rachel Joy.

Lee Bofkin, co-founder of Global Street Art, which has organised the festival said: "It's important that London Mural Festival goes ahead this year, showing the enduring nature of human creativity. It’s been a hard year for everyone and continues to be, but hopefully, we can bring a smile to people's faces and brighten up the streets."

Londoners can see the artworks dotted around the city, from Leyton to Wembley and Canary Wharf to Holborn.
