Chef Stevie Parle and designer Tom Dixon have opened this restaurant, café and cocktail bar next to The O2.

It is hyper-modern with views of Canary Wharf from floor-to-ceiling windows. Scallops are served either in a mussel and clam porridge with parsley sauce (£14), or wood-grilled with an anchovy fritter and cauliflower (£26).

The menu at this pretty gastropub changes with the seasons, so is always packed with lovely new things to try. Look out for more game dishes as we get further into autumn and winter. Other favourites include rib of Galloway beef for two to share, and crab cakes. Scallops come with risotto nero and smoked paprika (£9).

Best for fusion: The Providores and Tapa Room

Fusion: scallops pan-fried with squid ink, beets, cardamom and purple shiso

The word ‘fusion’ is a bit overused but chef Peter Gordon was one of the first to make it famous. In the upstairs dining room scallops are served pan-fried with squid ink, beets, cardamom and purple shiso (£33 for two courses at dinner), while in the downstairs Tapa Room they’re grilled with sweet chilli and crème fraîche (£8.50).
