No sooner has the World Cup breathed its last than Wimbledon fever takes over. For those of us to whom the very thought of all that effort brings on a case of the vapours, The Savoy's Wimbledon strawberry afternoon might go some way to soothing heated brows.
Up until Sunday, it's serving a magnificent traditional tea - finger sandwiches, pastries, warm scones with strawberry preserve and clotted cream and a selection of teas - plus a bowl of strawberries and cream.
Tea is served in the Thames Foyer and costs £23 a head weekdays and £26 at weekends. But if you really can't bear to miss out on the action, the same tea is available in the Resident's Drawing Room, complete with a large TV showing all the Wimbledon moments.

SOUTH AFRICA'S finest food and wine is being showcased in Richmond this Saturday. Tents are being pitched in Richmond Athletic Grounds for what promises to be something of an eyeopening foodie adventure.
Chef Pete Gottgens, whose Springbok Cafè (now known as Dumela ) has been plying citizens of Chiswick with the delights of zebra, ostrich, sprinkbok and arcana such as sosaties, heads up the food side of things.
The wine tent features an oenophile's dream: a tasting trek across the wine-producing areas of South Africa. There will also be live acts, music and comedy. Tickets cost £20 each with a donation going to the Red Cross Children's Hospital of South Africa. To book visit www.1stcontact.co.uk
