Mews of Mayfair: pizza in the street but a chef's table in the eaves

Find something to tickle most fancies on these well-secluded cobbles

Mews of Mayfair isn’t exactly an obvious sort of place.

To find it takes a well-directed pootle down the cobbled backstreets of New Bond Street et al, but its discovery is a pleasant one. Entwined in the historic mews of this part of the capital is a miscellany of eating and drinking opportunities, under not one, but two roofs.

The outfit lives on both sides of a tiny alleyway, onto which their popular pizza restaurant, Mayfair Pizza Co., spills out onto all year round (cosy up by a heater for a winter bit to eat). From informal catch ups to private dining, there is a something to tickle most fancies, along with a fair share of quirks. A private meal in the Chef’s Dining Room surrounds guests will wall-to-wall illustrations of antique maps and centres around a gleaming chandelier, of which another – dating from the 18th century – hangs in the ground floor cocktail bar.

A more casual dining affair can be found in the Brasserie, serving up contemporary European and British fare – before night owls can head to the Mews’ subterranean Lounge to dance the night away.
