Comedian Aziz Ansari, Youtube star Matty Matheson and acclaimed Italian chef Agata Felluga are among those set to create their dream dishes for Lyle’s and Flor-spinoff ASAP Pizza, which is launching a guest menu in aid of charity.

ASAP’s Pamela Yung and James Lowe have invited friends and collaborators from across the glove to come up with pizza recipes for a series launching on February 25, with different recipes rolling out each week, sold either as an entire pizza (on Thursdays) or additionally by the slice (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays). The pizzas will be available either to buy from ASAP’s base in Flor, Borough Market, or via delivery, with £3 from every pizza and £1 from every slice sold going to a charity chosen by the guest chef.

The first recipe will come courtesy of Quality Wines’ chef Nick Bramham, who has recently been cooking Neapolitan-style rotisserie chicken for the newly-launched Arrosto. His will be a bechamel-based white Hawaiian, with ham and pineapple but no tomato.

Following Bramham will be Matty Matheson, the Canadian chef with more than 800,000 Youtube subscribers and a million followers on Instagram. At his Toronto-based pizzeria Maker Pizza, Matheson is known for the thincrust “Dr.” pepperoni, so expect something along those lines. Later, Felluga will cook a cardoon pizza, using the artichoke thistle that’s considered a delicacy. Ansari’s pizza is yet to be confirmed.

Yung said of the idea: “Throughout the pandemic, it has felt as though the world is smaller and more connected than ever.

“We wanted to bring together pies from our friends scattered across the globe, so that while travel remains a distant dream, our guests can try new chefs’ recipes each week. We’re also looking forward to supporting a variety of different charities throughout the series, lending a helping hand to those in need.”

Other chefs to contribute recipes include Trisha Greentree of Sydney-based Italian 10 William Street, Philip Krajeck Nashville pizzeria Folk and Marc-Olivier Frappier of Montreal wine bar Vin Mon Lapin.

ASAP Pizza has proven to be a success born out of lockdown, launching last year amid the pandemic with New York-style sourdough pizzas.
