Your cat can now enjoy a glass of ‘Pinot Meow’ wine after a long, hard day

Thought you’d seen it all? Well think again, because you can now buy your cat a bottle of wine.

A Colorado-based company has launched the world’s first wine for cats - a fruity and non-alcoholic cocktail that’s designed so that you can enjoy a glass of vino alongside your fluffy, four-legged companion.

The wines, made by the company Apollo Peak, come in two varieties - Pinot Meow and MosCATo - and according to its founder Brandon Zavola, have already been approved by local vets in the Denver area.

“It’s made like a tea,” Brandon told The Huffington Post. “But since we got it to look so much like a wine, we want it to be perceived as a wine by the consumer — that way they can feel as though they are having a glass of wine with their pet.”

The beverages are made from organic catnip and water, and are coloured with beetroot juice to make it look like you’re pouring a glass of full-bodied red into your cat’s water dish.

And just like a good bottle of red wine, Apollo Peak suggests serving the MosCATo at room-temperature, “as cats tend to not like cold beverages”.

The bad news is that you’ll have to trek to America if you want to get your hands on a bottle, because Apollo Peak’s website does not yet ship internationally.

But for the sake of our Sunday nights, here’s hoping they bring them to British soil soon. We can just imagine curling up on the sofa with an episode of Gogglebox, a bottle of Merlot and our new drinking buddy.
