Woodman will continue to impress

Woodman: Stepping out the shadows
10 April 2012

Having changed ownership in 2006 things have been on the up throughout the last year, and from our most recent visit we're happy to predict that the future prognosis is very healthy too.

The service from the bar staff is extremely friendly and a revamped menu shows a bit of originality and choice; the excellent Sunday lunch showed us they are taking things seriously.

The beers are standard but well kept and a healthy mix of punters meant a relaxed atmosphere; they've apparently been successful in removing the ne'er-do-wells who once occupied this pub, leaving a pub you want to go to.

The two pool tables are still here, indicating it still sees itself as a pub first and foremost, while improvements to the garden are promised soon. We're sure it will continue to impress here - the Woodman can certainly step out of the shadow of it's previous incarnation now.

FOOD REVIEW: Pub grub bordering on the gastro, but it's good value and filling. Sunday lunch (£9.50) well made.
