The Little Bar - bar review

This inviting little bar confirms that Tooting really is the new place to be, says Kate Lough

The buzz: the latest addition to Tooting’s burgeoning scene that makes great drinks (they don’t like the word cocktail) and has a thoughtful wine list alongside little plates of charcuterie and cheese.

The deal: owners Madeleine and Martin have created the perfect teeny bar — simple, unpretentious, with regulars already. Drinkswise we were sold when we saw their lengthy list of Negronis — we were given a classic one for just £6 but with the Martini Rosso swapped for the posher Punt E Mes (a dark Italian vermouth).

Good for: south Londoners. Daters too.

Order: SW17, their spin on a champagne cocktail made with Somerset apple brandy, Angostura bitters, charged with prosecco and a brown sugar lump — a snip at £7; or the lovely, earthy Malbec (£4.50) with the tasty terrine.

By the way: cross the road to Rick’s for a bargain paella.
