Quiet time: City Pride provides respite from the hurly-burly of Canary Wharf
10 April 2012

This pub will be familiar to the sadistic among you who enjoy the self-inflicted punishment of the participants in the London Marathon. The course of the marathon winds its way on both sides of the pub and consequently puts it in a prime viewing position and usually features in the TV programming.

During this time, the pub is festooned and sports live music and other entertainment. For the rest of the year it, provides refreshment to the ever-increasing number of office workers in Canary Wharf and its environs, a job it does competently enough. A very extensive (and cheapish) menu is partner to the unremarkable range of beers (only one ale - Tetley's - on the hand pumps) and wines on offer. It has a very large beer garden and terrace with views of Docklands and the river which, when the hurly-burly of Canary Wharf and the other quays gets too much for you, provide a welcome respite. It's also been in the news lately, as a property developer has bought the site for some £32million - hardly an amount to be sneezed at, but probably the demise of yet another pub.
