Bar Gazer: Percy Bar at Portobello House

4 October 2012

The buzz: A Fellini-esque cocktail bar on the ground floor of the new Portobello House that boasts a bohemian and eclectic interior.

The deal: In reality, it’s more gastropub-chic than Fellini-esque. The Percy (which shares space with the Bistro) does decent cocktails for £8 and has an impressive wine list. Unusual bar snacks include salt-and-pepper squid and pea, mint and goat’s cheese croquettes.

Good for: Probably not a destination bar but this will serve thirsty Ladbroke Grove locals and Portobello tourists well.

Order: Italian drink-du-jour the Aperol Spritz or something more patriotic like the sweet and bubbly London Fizz.

By the way: It has 12 boutique rooms upstairs for a sleepover.

Find it: 225 Ladbroke Grove, W10 (portobellohouse.com)
