The Beat of a different drum

Coffee and couplets at the Troubadour

Take me out tonight

COFFEE-HOUSE POETRY
Monday 4 June, Troubadour, 263-7 Old Brompton Road, SW5, 8pm, £6 (www.troubadour.co.uk)

The Beat poet within you will welcome some inspiration from the latest strokey-beard gathering at this Earl's Court institution.

Hendrix, Dylan and Joni Mitchell all played there in the 60s but there's no folk tonight, just readings of contemporary verse.

They may not exactly be channelling Allen Ginsberg, but participants range from the well-established (the highly-regarded Maurice Riordan) to a debut collection (Maggie Butt's Lipstick).

Grab a demi-cappu and chill, daddy-o.
