Sky-high viewing platform coming to Hyde Park this month
There’s a new way to see sky-high London views this month – on a platform in Hyde Park which soars 100ft in the air.
The Better View platform, which is sponsored by Barclaycard, will be completely free and even comes with the option of Champagne.
You can only catch it for five days, though. Rides will take place on 19, 22, 23, 24 and 25 June, coinciding with the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time festival, which runs from 19 - 26 June in the park and features acts including Blur, Kylie, The Strokes and The Who.
The platform is open from 1-5pm on these days with no booking necessary – just turn up and ride. In the evenings there will be special Champagne ‘flights’ at 6, 7 and 8pm. These have to be pre-booked online and guests can taste three wines from the Heidsieck & Co. Monopole range of Champagne during the flight.
All flights last approximately half an hour.
The free price tag is particularly attractive when compared with other high-flying attractions. The View From The Shard will set you back £24.95 and the London Eye £21.50. But in terms of height, it can’t compete. 100ft roughly equates to being just a quarter of the way up the London Eye or on the tenth floor of the Shard, whereas its viewing platform goes up to the 72nd floor.
