If you weren't already aware, our beloved hedgehog is dying out in London town – and we're probably not helping by destroying their lands and pastures.

In an attempt to help save the little critters, Hackney pub The Sebright Arms will be hosting what could possibly be London's first ever Hedgefest, a Hedgehog Festival. Adorable.

So what can you expect? Bands, legendary tales of hedgehogs, poetry sessions and an 87-year-old East London lass who will be playing a 'flaming flute' (don't ask) and if you're lucky, a chance to meet a few of the nocturnal beasts yourself.

Whilst it sounds like the ultimate social media fad, there is a very serious point to the event. Over the last decade, London's population of urban hedgehogs has rapidly declined by 50 per cent, so the hope is that after attending, guests will do their bit to help to spread awareness and educate their neighbours on how to help our spiny little friends.

To tempt you even more, there will be a load of lol-worthy hedgehog-themed cocktails, too. Now how can you say no to that?

Entry is free, alcohol is not.

Hedgefest takes place at Hackney’s Sebright Arms on November 17. Keep up to date on Instagram @hedgefest
