A Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant looked devastated after she lost £31k after ignoring her husband’s advice on a question.

Contestant Lynn struggled during Tuesday night’s episode of the 20th anniversary of the quiz show when asked a question about who preceded Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary.

New host Jeremy Clarkson asked her: “In 2016, whom did Boris Johnson succeed as Foreign Secretary? Liam Fox, Philip Hammond, Kenneth Clarke or William Hague."

The Cambridge contender had already used up two of her life lines and so chose to ask Clarkson for his thoughts.

However, the former Top Gear host was unsure which left Lynn with little choice but to use her ‘phone-a-friend’ and seek help from her other half.

Her husband suggested the correct answer was indeed Phillip Hammond which Lynn chose to ignore.

Choosing William Hague instead, Lynn was visibly upset as the correct answer was revealed to be Hammond.

With a look of devastation she admitted her husband would “kill” her.

Clarkson suggested: “May I make a suggestion- don’t go home tonight.”

Twitter users were left horrified at her loss with some questioning if the couple were “still married.”

One wrote: “Not only will your husband kill you, but there’s not a jury in the land who’ll convict. #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

Another said: “Well that’s going to come up in every marital argument forevermore #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”

Meanwhile another posted: “There’s about as much point #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire having an ‘ask the presenter’ option as there is my chocolate packet having a ‘share size’ sticker.”
