Line of Duty season 6: Kelly McDonald makes her debut as AC-12’s latest target in tense new trailer

AC-12 are returning to our screens very soon indeed...

Now we’re sucking diesel! The first trailer for the highly anticipated sixth series of Line of Duty has finally been unveiled by the BBC.

The intense teaser clip introduces guest star Kelly Macdonald as Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case - and sees poor old Ted ‘like the battle’ Hastings looking - mother of God - very stressed indeed, poor chap.

The first instalment of season six is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday, March 21 at 9pm, the broadcaster revealed last month.

Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston are all set to return as anti-corruption officers Kate Fleming, Ted Hastings and Steve Arnott, with Shalom Brune-Franklin making her debut on the show as DC Chloe Bishop, a new addition to the AC-12 team.

This will be the longest series yet for Jed Mercurio’s police procedural, comprising seven episodes which will air weekly.

Season five bowed out in May 2019 with a feature-length 90 minute episode that drew in 9.1 million overnight viewers.

Series one to five of Line of Duty are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
