Gemma Collins has revealed she nearly crushed three Love Island contestants after she suffered a near fatal fall.

Collins, 36, said Jamie Jewitt, Amber Davies and Marcel Somerville had to be checked over by paramedics after she nearly “wiped them out” at the Radio 1 Teen Awards.

The TOWIE star slipped and plummeted down a trapdoor after misjudging her step as she revealed Love Island had won the Best TV Show prize at Sunday afternoon’s ceremony.

Speaking to Ben Shephard and Amanda Holden on This Morning, Collins recalled the moment she nearly had her legs crushed by the hydraulic stage as Jewitt, Davies and Somerville rushed to pull her to safety.

“I am in a bit of pain this morning, I’m not going to lie,” she said. “The seriousness of it is it could have been really fatal. What people don’t see under there there’s all machinery going on.

“They [the Love Island cast] were screaming, ‘Get her up, get her up – her legs are going to be crushed’ because the platform underneath was raising up and my legs were dangling over the end of it. So thank you to the two Love Island guys. Poor [Davies] there nearly got totally crushed. There was nothing of her.”

She added: “I just want to apologise because I wiped them out. They had to go and see the paramedics afterwards.”

Collins said despite being in “shock” she found the incident “absolutely hilarious” as it confirmed her status as a “memay” sensation.

“You have to dust yourself off,” she said. “I just wish I hadn’t got so excited and spun round to give them an award and then fell in the hole.

“I live to tell the tale and I carried on. I did give them the award and I went on to present with Rita [Ora] and Grimmy [Nick Grimshaw]. It’s one of these moments, I’m never going to live down! Where there’s blame there’s a claim! Yes, I’m in pain but the show has to go on guys!”

Collins quickly assured fans that she was fine after the humiliating fall at Wembley Arena, telling fans that it was the “best and worst moment” of her life. She also compared herself to Bridget Jones and Madonna, who fell down a set of steps on stage at the BRIT Awards in 2015.

She later poked fun at herself by posting a picture of her face in a mock advert for the National Accident Helpline.
