With the auditions now over, The X Factor is moving on to bootcamp – and it looks set to be a big test.

The next round of the show is bringing all of the successful auditioning hopefuls to Alexandra Palace.

“Over the next couple of days, the judges are going to set challenges,” warns Dermot O’Leary.

“Those that get through those challenges get through to the dreaded six chair challenge.

“It’s going to be a very, very tough couple of days of your life – it’s going to be long days, you’re not going to get much sleep, you’re going to work very hard, and the learning curve is so, so steep.”

However, before the serious work kicked in, the contestants were treated to a massive party, complete with hot tubs, wine, and music.

“We were kind of expecting it to be dead serious, but we’ve got here, the sun’s out, there’s food, there’s music playing – I feel like I’m on holiday,” says one member of boy band Yes Lad.

The contestants were also treated to a live DJ performance from Beck Martin with his ‘hit’ song Friday Night, and rapper Honey G.

However, not all of the singers were in high spirits.

“Tonight it’s a real mix of vibes,” says Faye Horne. “There’s certain people jumping in the Jacuzzi, having every drink that they possibly can, some people are over there rehearsing, and then there’s certain people that are having a couple of drinks and enjoying themselves but not too much.”

As Stephen, of duo He Knows She Knows, says: “They’re over there hammered. One by one, drink by drink, our competition is being eliminated.”

And an appearance from Simon Cowell confirmed that the remaining candidates should be wary of each other.

“The important thing to remember is, even though this is a party, these are not your friends,” he hinted. “They are your rivals.”

Bootcamp continues on Sunday September 18.
