The niceties are over in the current series of The Voice UK – yes, the auditions are done and it’s onto the battle rounds.

Those who have made it through so far are going to have to fight (metaphorically, of course) to remain on the ITV singing show, and it’s not going to be easy.

Confused about how this stage of the competition works? Wonder no more.

The coaches have to look at their teams of singers, and choose two of their own to head to head. The coach also chooses the song the pair will sing.

After some behind-the-scenes rehearsals, they then get onto the main stage in front of the audience – and go lungs-to-lungs on the same song.

“It’s like live or die, it’s dog eat dog,” explains the always understated Will.I.Am.

After they perform, it’s up to the coaches – who will they vote to stay? And who will be going home?

There’s an extra twist – any singer or act who gets dropped isn’t necessarily gone for good.

Each coach is given one ‘steal’, where they can decide to nab an act who just missed their shot at the live shows.

Which acts will triumph? Which ones will fail to make it through? And who are the coaches eager to steal? Tune in to find out.
