Good news for fans of hilariously accurate Michael Caine impressions: The Trip is confirmed to return for a third series.

The Rob Brydon and Steven Coogan comedy series, which sees the actors playing fictionalised versions of themselves as they venture to a series of restaurants, is set to shoot once again this Autumn.

While the first series was set in the north of England, series two moved proceedings to Italy – and now the duo will be venturing to Spain.

Locations for the series are expected to include Cantabria, the Basque region, Aragon, Rioja, Castile-La Mancha, and Andalusia.

Director Michael Winterbottom is returning to helm the series.

“Having thought long and hard about yet another sojourn into culinary distractions and middle age, I have reluctantly agreed to Y viva Espana,” Coogan said. “I have a hole in my diary, there will be free food and accommodation and Rob Brydon is surprisingly good company. I also like Michael.”

Michael Winterbottom said: “Travelling with Rob and Steve is always enjoyable - so it seemed like a good idea to go on another journey together - before they get too old.”

While the first two series aired on BBC Two, series three is set to arrive on Sky Atlantic.
