Kylie Minogue has said that she is “very happily single” following her split from Joshua Sasse, insisting that chart-topping Golden isn’t a “break-up” album.

Speaking on Lorraine, the Australian pop star said that has regained her “sense of self” since the relationship ended in February 2017 and found it “empowering” to be single.

Talking about the split, she said: “Literally, that’s been and gone but I appreciated everyone’s kind thoughts.

“That does seem like another life. I really just built up, regained my sense of self, I was like, ‘Oh yeah this is me, this is who I am.’”

She added: “I was very happily single when I wrote them [the tracks]. Like, very happily single. The grass is always greener isn’t it? You know. It isn’t, we tend to think it is.

“Honestly, it’s just not [a break-up album] – what it became about was me and my life and where I am in my life and the lessons I’ve learnt.”

Talking about turning 50, she said: “It takes a team [to look like this], I can tell you. I don’t roll out of bed like this.”

Minogue’s fourteenth studio album Golden shot straight to the top the charts last Friday.

Speaking to Official Charts Company about her win, she explained: “I don’t know where to start… Thank you to everybody who has been involved in getting Golden to Number 1.

“I am so overwhelmed, happy, proud, emotional and very, very thankful and grateful. Much love and many, many, many thanks.”
