‘Telly gold!’: Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby in hysterics over ‘d*** out’ gaffe on This Morning

Emma Powell5 February 2018

Phillip Schofield left Holly Willoughby in hysterics after he accidentally dropped a rude word on This Morning.

The TV presenter was left red-faced after he blurted out the word “d***” instead of “dig” while reading a rundown of Monday morning’s show.

On introducing an upcoming exclusive interview with Fifty Shades Freed star Rita Ora, he said: “And get ready to d*** out…”

Schofield shot his hand over his mouth as Willoughby burst out laughing.

She said: “That might be your best yet. I’m so happy it’s not me.”

An embarrassed Schofield looked at his watch, adding: “Ah man it’s a Monday – it’s only five to 11.”

Attempting to compose himself and string the correct sentence together he said: “Right then, get ready to dig out your duct tape.”

Willoughby joked: “I preferred it the first time.”

Thankfully viewers saw the funny side, and branded the slip up “telly gold”.

One tweeted: “That amazing moment when instead of ‘Dig’ @Schofe says ‘Dick’ because of talking about Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Another posted: “Get ready to d*** out @Schofe @thismorning @ITV Made my Monday morning #TimeToD***Out #ThisMorning.”

A third wrote: “@thismorning Phil’s fluff up was so funny bless his heart.”

Bake Off champion Candice Brown also tweeted her shock and praised Willoughby for her handling of the situation.

She tweeted: “’Dig’ out your what Phil?????? @Schofe @thismorning Well handled @hollywills.”
