Suranne Jones has denied a third series of Doctor Foster is in the works, admitting ‘she doesn’t know’ if she will return to the show.

Jones, who plays GP Gemma Foster in the BBC series, remained coy on the prospect of further instalments during an interview on This Morning.

When quizzed by presenter, and Doctor Foster fan, Holly Willoughby, Jones replied: “I don’t know.

"So [with new Sky Atlantic drama] Save Me, there is also room for more… And when you see it come out of six episodes and then I’m doing Gentleman Jack. So it’s a time thing.

“I love Mike Bartlett. But would you really want [Tom] to come back to those damaged parents? After this we’ll have a glass of wine and finish it and we’ll tell Mike we’ve done it.”

Jones is back on screens this week in Sky drama Save Me. She plays Claire McGory whose daughter has gone missing.

The London-set series also stars The Walking Dead actor Lennie James, who plays McGory’s ex, and the man she blames for her daughters disappearance.

Save Me starts on Wednesday, February 27 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and can be binge-watched in its entirety on Sky on-demand services and Now TV directly after the first show airs.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
