Rylan Clark-Neal left This Morning viewers stunned as he announced his decision to leave the show.

Clark-Neal, who has been a regular fixture on the magazine show since 2014 with his showbiz segment, revealed that he will be taking a break from his role during Friday’s episode.

He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I've not really said anything but after Christmas, next Friday, I'm going to be going away for a little bit.”

The former The X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother star continued: “It's definitely not goodbye but I'm going to be taking a little bit of a break for a little bit in the New Year.

“I just want to say thank you because it's been lovely and I will be back. I will be back.”

Viewers immediately rushed to social media to share their sadness over the television star’s shock news.

One wrote: “No!! @Rylan why are you leaving @thismorning that sounded like you are not coming back!! I’m really sad to see u go! :( showbiz will never be the same? #ThisMorning.”

While another tweeted: “Gutted that Rylan's leaving/taking a break from #ThisMorning. Always a highlight.”

“Aww I LOVE Rylan on #ThisMorning. Come back soon!” added somebody else.
