Poldark Series 3 teaser trailer reveals new characters, Aidan Turner looking scared and Elizabeth’s baby bump

The Cornish anti-hero will be back for more brooding in 2017

After ten weeks of Aidan Turner’s magnificent brooding, Poldark fans are faced once again with a wait for more episodes.

Series 2 of the BBC period drama came to a close, as Ross reunited with Demelza – and Elizabeth dropped the bombshell that she’s pregnant, but doesn’t know who the father is.

For those bereft at the thought of not having their Sunday night period drama fix, the series ended with a special treat – a first look at Series 3.

A 30-second teaser showed off the arrival of new characters, including Elizabeth’s cousin Morwenna, and Demelza’s brothers Drake and Joel.

Then there’s the aristocratic Hugh Armitage, and unconventional vicar Osbourne Whitworth.

That’s not all though – following Elizabeth’s pregnancy reveal we get a look at her baby bump, and there’s a shot of Demelza and Ross entering a decidedly fancy-looking house in their Sunday best.

While the wait between Series 1 and 2 was nearly a year and a half, Series 3 is already well underway in shooting – hence the early trailer.

The forthcoming episodes will be based on the fifth and sixth books in Winston Graham’s series, titled The Black Moon and The Four Swans.

"We're thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scales new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama," says show writer Debbie Horsfield.

"Ross is older but not necessary wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him, and his loved ones, dear. We're in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher."

While an air date for the new series hasn’t been announced yet, it’s set to air in 2017. Start the countdown.
