Love Island 2018: The new boys exit almost immediately as Alexandra picks Dr Alex while Laura and Kaz clash

Dumped: New boys Idris and Kieran failed to make waves in the Love Island villa

After weeks of having our say on social media the Love Island cast finally got to hear what the public think about them tonight.

Well actually, first we had the dramatic recoupling. With Alex and the two new boys left, it was down to Alexandra to pick.

“It’s not been easy, you all have such beautiful qualities, but the boy I want to couple up with is... Alex”.

It wasn’t exactly a surprise. We got to know very little about the new boys, and Alex’s story needed a happy ending. But what followed was one of the most genuinely sexless first kisses in television history - so somehow we don’t see their romance lasting.

“He’s just lovely, and I need that in my life right now”.

Sure Alexandra, sure.

Then we had Charlie decide to ask Ellie to be be his girlfriend. So we went from the most sexless kiss to the most sexless couple. Why have we had to endure these two when Samira was reduced to sidekick status?

Anyway, after all that soppyness it was time to inject some drama back into the house.

*Iain Stirling voice* Cue the text! “Islanders, it’s time to find out what the public really think in today’s challenge, Twitter Bingo #EyesDown #Trending #BitterTweet”

With the help of the latest challenge, instead of finally bringing an end to did they or didn’t they kiss-gate producers decided to once again torture Laura some more.

Honestly, can this woman catch a break? After the criticism surrounding the treatment of Samira on the show, it would have been obvious to assume that ITV bosses would be keen to finally give the air hostess a break after weeks of her being emotionally torn to shreds by a number of her fellow islanders.

First Wes decided to break Laura’s heart, and then Megan decided it was appropriate to crack on with him that very same evening.

Then after finally finding another man who likes her, Jack ended up being set upon - well, depending on the angle you watch it from - by Georgia and her happy ending once again appeared to be out of reach.

After a short-lived break-up things were seemingly back on track, so of course producers decided to sow yet more seeds of doubt in the poor woman’s mind.

Islanders were asked to guess who a viewer was talking about in this tweet: “BLANK is not into BLANK the way he’s into her.”

Every single person, including even Laura, whose self-worth has been slowly picked away at for weeks after an array if disappointments and letdowns - picked new Jack.

Dismayed at the lack of confidence in her relationship with new Jack, Laura approached the other girls to find out why they were so quick to suggest it was all one-sided.

“The whole tweet thing, initially I didn’t think I was that bothered. Everyone said us, and I know you think I’ve been defensive with Jack but it was hard not to be defensive if anything is doubted.”

Kaz hit back: “I don’t think you should take that so personally. I just wanted to be honest with you because I feel like you wanted honesty. I feel like some girls feel like they can’t say their honest opinion because you are very defensive of it.”

“I’ll be honest, everyone put you and even you put you. The fact you went to Jack and said you wanted to end things, following that you changed your mind. I don’t think take it so personally.”

She took her criticism of Laura even further in the beach hut, suggesting that she’s is unable to take criticism full-stop: “No one is allowed to say what they think or what they really feel because she is very defensive.”

It’s almost as if Kaz has forgotten that not everyone was snatched up by a personal trainer minutes after getting into the villa. Laura has endured it all from Day One, whereas as Kaz has had the easiest ride of all the girls in the house.

Between snakely trying to get Idris to crack on with Alexandra and now this, it appears that there’s a darker side to Kaz than she’s let on. What happened to women supporting women? Or did that go out the window when Laura rightfully got upset about the entire house doubting that her man even finds her attractive. How dare she defend herself! How awful of her!

We’re watching you, Kaz.
