Channel 4’s hit drama Humans has been confirmed for a third series.

The sci-fi show from writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley is regaining consciousness for eight more episodes, set to shoot this autumn.

The show imagines a parallel reality where ‘synths’, robotic human helpers, have become a part of everyday life.

When some machines begin to gain sentience, they must work out their place in a world that has been fundamentally changed by their existence.

“We’re thrilled to be continuing this story,” Vincent and Brackley said.

“The Humans audience will know that the end of Series 2 changed everything. We can’t wait to bring this new world to life – along with the best cast in TV, our amazing partners at Kudos and two fantastically supportive broadcasters in Channel 4 and AMC.”

The last episode of Humans left a tantalising future for the show – spoiler warning – with the life of Leo hanging in the balance, and Mattie being forced to upload the consciousness program to all synths to save Mia.

That means Series 3 will likely bring a robo-revolution, as androids across the globe become suddenly aware of their own existence.

While the full cast has not yet been announced, Channel 4 have confirmed that the ‘key cast’ will be back for the new episodes.
