Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield gave an energetic start to This Morning as they performed the viral Baby Shark routine.

The much-loved duo opened Tuesday’s edition of the magazine show showing off the viral sensation, a catchy 2016 tune, from Pinkfong, which has recently found popularity.

After finishing the routine, Willoughby joked that it was “like being on kids telly again” while Schofield, laughing, added “that’s got to be the most bizarre opening we've ever done”.

Willoughby cringed before saying: “I'm sorry. I feel like apologising.

“Once you hear it you cannot get it out of your head.”

But although the catchy tune is starting to grate, Twitter users still enjoyed the opening.

One wrote: “Absolutely classic! As soon as #ThisMorning starts @hollywills & @Schofe doing the baby shark dance, yes! It’s made my day.”

While another wrote: “#ThisMorning I didn't think I could love Holly and Phil more but then they did the baby shark dance.”

“Phillip and Holly doing the Baby Shark dance on #ThisMorning has absolutely made my day. Truly inspirational.”

And they even got the seal of approvals from several of the younger viewers, with parents sharing their experiences.

“My 11 month old son stopped at stared at the tv while Baby Shark was playing. It's literally the only thing that makes him stop #ThisMorning,” posted one user.

The show soon turned serious as Willoughby and Schofield chatted to Coleen Nolan, who opened up on “the worst week of her life” following her row with Kim Woodburn.

The singer and presenter broke down in tears as she discussed the incident that occurred on last week’s Loose Women.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
