Harry Styles might already have singer, actor and presenter on his CV, but now he’s turning his hand to producing.

The British pop star is set to act as executive producer on a brand new US sitcom about Styles’ early days in One Direction.

Despite currently being on the road as part of his Sign of the Times world tour, the singer has carved out some time to help produce the new CBS show, called Happy Together.

According to reports, the show follows a young pop star, played by Felix Mallard, who moves in with a married couple in their suburban home and turns their lives upside down.

The premise is based on the time Styles spent living with TV producer Ben Winston in the London home he shared with his wife, soon after he joined One Direction.

The singer was only supposed to stay with the couple for two weeks but ended up sleeping on a mattress in their attic for 20 months.

“Those 20 months were when they went from being on a reality show, X Factor, to being the biggest-selling artists in the world,” Winston told Rolling Stone magazine.

"That period of time, he was living with us in the most mundane suburban situation. No one ever found out, really.

“Even when we went out for a meal, it's such a sweet family neighbourhood, no one dreamed it was actually him. But he made our house a home. And when he moved out, we were gutted.”

Damon Wayans Jr and Amber Stevens West are set to play the couple who take in the rising star.

Speaking about Styles’ involvement, West told People: “This is his story, and even though we're not telling it exactly as it happened, people are going to ask questions — like, "Did this really happen to you?’”

“So he's going to care about the stories that we're telling. I think he's going to have a pretty strong presence as a producer.”
