Great British Bake Off 2016: was Biscuit Week the most innuendo-laden episode ever?

It was all stiff mixtures, warm hands, tasty sisters, and sticky carpets in the latest instalment

The glorious torrent of innuendos is one of the thing people love most about the Great British Bake Off – and the latest instalment did not disappoint.

The second episode of the 2016 series saw the amateur bakers take on Biscuit Week – and while many of their bakes fell apart, their double entendre quality was firm and plentiful.

This week’s tasks included a Viennese Whirl technical challenge, and a mass bake of 24 identical biscuits in the signature round.

The showstopper saw the contestants attempt towering gingerbread constructions – many of which crumbled before making it in front of the judges.

But the creations themselves were not the highlight of the episode – viewers were highly amused by all the Carry On-level comedy.

Trying out Candice’s gingerbread pub, for which she had made a sticky gingerbread carpet, Twitter went into meltdown as Mary Berry admitted, “I’ll eat a bit of carpet”.

That wasn’t the only innuendo connected to Candice this week – who also asked Mel Giedroyc to “grab [her] jugs”.

Meanwhile, Paul Hollywood was impressed by the gingerbread version of Val’s sibling, saying: “I think your sister tastes lovely”.

At one point, Mel asked Rav if he needed a warm pair of hands on his bag.

And then there was this line, which we 100% assure you is about creating a good biscuit mix.

Isn’t it great to have the Bake Off back in our lives for another year?

Aside from all the hilarity, the episode saw contestant Louise leave the competition, suffering a disaster with her wedding-themed gingerbread church.

Next week's episode will be Bread Week - so prepare for hard crusts, soft baps and everything in between.
