Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold suggests Love Island stars will be 'rewarded' for 'doing bits'

Producers have moved the hot tub in order to lure couples to the Hideaway

Richard Arnold suggested that Love Island contestants will be ‘rewarded’ for ‘doing bits’ on the show ahead of the new series launch.

The Good Morning Britain entertainment reporter was dispatched to Majorca to film a live report outside the villa before the ITV2 dating contest kicks off tonight.

Clutching his own personalised water bottle, Arnold gave fans a taste of what they can expect from tonight’s opener.

“I can tell you that the gals went in first, there are five of them, followed by five lads over the weekend, then another two lads - the names are all out there - went in to stir up the fray,” he said, confirming comments made by ITV Studios Entertainment managing director Angela Jain last week.

He then explained that the hot tub has been moved to the Hideaway - the double room where coupled-up islanders can head for some privacy away from their fellow contestants - this season, adding that he is “sure” the show’s producers will be “hoping they’ll do bits.”

“What else can I tell you about this year?” he continued. “Well, the hot tub is moved to the Hideaway, where of course I’m sure the producers are hoping they’ll do bit’ and if they do bits they may get rewarded because there’s a secret compartment - a ‘compartment secreto’ - in the Hideaway that they can be served little treats from.”

Arnold’s Good Morning Britain colleague Piers Morgan didn’t hold back in criticising the series and its new batch of contestants - who he branded "brain dead zombies" - during this morning’s show.

“Tonight’s challenge, they’re going to be asked to count to 10 and be asked to name their favourite colour and see if they can remember what they said an hour later,” he said.

“It’s going to be great fun, we’ll get the views of Love Island contestants on everything from Donald Trump’s state visit to Brexit. If you want to kill brain cells, you know what to do - tune in and watch this lot of dimwits prancing about saying stupid things about each other.”

Despite his disdain for the reality show, Morgan has already chosen to back flight attendant Amy Hart in series five, after she described him as the best celebrity passenger she had encountered during her stint as cabin crew.

“Amy has gone public by saying I was her favourite passenger. She’s definitely got my support,” Morgan said.

Love Island returns to ITV2 tonight at 9pm.
