Freeview has announced some changes to the way regional channels are broadcast on the service, meaning London viewers may need to retune their TV equipment to continue watching all programmes.

Local stations like London Live may be affected by the technical work, which is being carried out across the UK region by region.

The changes began in Scotland in 2017 and will continue until 2020.

If changes to Freeview signals are taking place in a viewers’ area, they will receive an on-screen warning inviting them to retune their Freeview TV or set-top box.

If viewers find some channels are missing during the time of the channel changes in their area, retuning the equipment should solve the problem.

The channel changes follow a decision by the government to reallocate some of the airwaves used by Freeview for use in new broadband services.

Freeview customers can find out whether they need to retune and how to do so at www.freeview.co.uk/tvchanges and receive more information by phoning 0808 100 0288.
