Emily Hartridge death: Family of YouTuber who died in e-scooter accident reveal plans to honour her legacy with mental health charity

The late YouTuber and presenter was passionate about helping her followers open up about mental health

Emily Hartridge’s sister and boyfriend have revealed their plans to celebrate the late YouTuber’s legacy by setting up a mental health charity.

The 35-year-old presenter died in an electric scooter crash in London earlier this month.

She regularly discussed her experiences with mental health on her YouTube channel and previously organised a mental health meet-up for her social media followers.

Speaking to Christine Bleakley on Lorraine this morning, Charlotte Hart and Jacob Hazell told the host that their plans had given them “a really positive focus out of something really horrible.”

Charlotte revealed that her sister’s followers had “still had [Emily’s] second mental health meet-up” after finding out about her death, describing the tribute as “really beautiful.”

She said that her family are “going to go through the process of setting up the charity” but the plans are currently “very much a work in progress” as they had been feeling “too emotional” in the wake of Emily’s death.

The planned charity would “reduce the stigma, work with mental health professionals, maybe go into schools and talk to young people to get them talking from a very early age,” she added, telling Bleakley that her sister would be “proud.”

“She would be laughing so much thinking that I’m here talking about this,” she added.

Discussing her mental health meet-ups in an Instagram post shared before her death, Emily said that she “wanted to create a safe space where women could talk about whatever they wanted and feel supported by other women who have gone through similar experiences.”
